Radnor’s Fifth Ward constitutes a thin slice across the entire width of the Township at the southern extremis. We are the Border Ward or perhaps Southern Radnor, whichever you like. Essentially the Ward is the Bryn Mawr Avenue corridor. The border of the Ward is not a straight line nor is it defined by any single street or avenue. From Newtown Square to Darby Paoli Road the Ward encompasses the homes south of Bryn Mawr. At Darby Paoli the line moves over to Roberts Road. You now encounter a fairly long portion of ward boundary, all the way east almost to Conestoga Road at which point we cross Roberts to include Roberts Hill Condos, Radcliffe House and then over to Montrose (east side only) to County Line. So, if you can visualize this line, the Ward includes everything from there south to the township border.
The Ward includes a broad spectrum of housing, from estates to row homes and everything in between. We have a small business section on our border with Lower Merion. Here too you will find a broad variety of businesses including food markets, eateries, cleaners etc.
As you can see, this layout means that the Ward really doesn’t have a focus or center, there is no single community of interest or identity. If you do not have children participating in the youth programs or attending Radnor Schools it is very likely you do not ever think of Radnor but rather identify with your post office, Bryn Mawr, Broomall or Newtown Square or your development.
